Over the past three decades, fire-resistant hydraulic fluids have been developed, improved, and become a standard operating material in the die casting industry. Management realization of tremendous potential losses from plant fires, coupled with government regulatory standards for worker safety, has resulted in an almost universal use of fire resistant fluids.

REINDRO SWG is a water-glycol fire resistant fluid developed specially to serve the needs of the die casting industry. It contains adequate water to prevent fire propagation should a hydraulic line break, and has the necessary lubricating and anti-wear properties for modern high pressure systems.

REINDRO SWG affords a maximum safety and provides maximum efficiency because of its high viscosity index. It provides marvelous stability under high shearing stresses of hydraulic pumping systems. It is a clear, red, oily liquid free of grit and abrasives. It protects against corrosion, and has special additives for excellent long-term stability. Water-glycol fluids provide superior heat-transfer characteristics over mineral oils and synthetic type fluids.

Recommended temperatures of REINDRO SWG:

To prevent excessive evaporation of water in open hydraulic systems, temperature should be maintained as low as possible, preferably between 1500F and 2000F, and should not exceed 2300F. Loss of water will eventually result in increased viscosity and may reduce the fire-resistant properties of the fluid. For this reason the water content should not be allowed to drop to below 35%.

Compatibility:

1. With other Water-Glycols: REINDRO SWG is compatible in every way with all accepted water-glycol. REINDRO SWG should never be used with other types of hydraulic fluids, such as petroleum, oil; water/oil emulsions, or synthetic oil.

2. Seal and gasket materials: REINDRO SWG can be satisfactorily used with many materials such as natural rubber, Buna N, Buna S, Neoprene, Viton, Teflon and similar materials. Unacceptable materials are leather, cork, cellulose, or other materials which absorb water and swell or deteriorate accordingly.

3. Reservoir Paints and Coatings: Water-glycol fluids may tend to deteriorate many conventional coating systems used in sumps and reservoirs. When converting to a water-glycol system, such as REINDRO SWG, be sure to check out your paint or coating. Most leading paint suppliers can be contacted for proper paint types to use.

4. Pipe Joint Compounds and Greases: Either Teflon pressure tape or pipe compounds with water-glycol compatibility should be used. Greases should be restricted to those with good water tolerance such as lithium, calcium, or aluminum complex greases.
