The History or Story Behind Zeolite
Zeolites were discovered in 1755 by Swedish mineralogist Axel Fredrick Cronstedt. Zeolites have been used for years in a variety of applications including water softening, water purification, arsenic control, detergents, construction, enriching poor soils, and converting crude oil into gasoline and other fuels.
Zeolites are natural volcanic minerals with a number of unique characteristics. Zeolites are formed when volcanic ash was deposited in ancient alkaline lakes. The interaction of the zolcanic ash with the salts in the lake water altered the ash into various zeolite minerals.
Zeolites have an unusual crystalline structure and aa unique ability to change ions. Our Zeolites are an aluminosilicate whose major ion exchangers are potassium and calcium plus other trace minerals. These elements are arranged within the mineral in a manner that gives the crystal a "honeycomb" framework of channels and cavaties. One gram of Zeolite provides up to several hundred square meters of surface area for chemical actions to take place. This characteristic of Zeolites gives them great absorbing power.
Zeolite Uses
Zeolite Minerals are 100% natural minerals. OSHA has determined that Zeolite products are:
Non-Toxic, Non Corrosive, Non Flammable, Stable, Not Caustic, Not an Irritant
Not a sensitizer in oral, dermal, and ocular per Federal Hazardous Substances Act (15 CFR 1500)
Zeolites are safe to use around food and can be safely ingested, though not recommended. With proper maintainence, these products can be used over and over for years. By laying the product in sunlight for at least 6 hours or baking in the oven for 2 hours, the product will regenerate and can be used for years.
Zeolites naturally creates a healthier enviroment for you and your animals.
Horse stalls and stables, Feedlots, paddocks, animal pens, cat litter boxes, dog pens, pet accidents on carpets, rabbit cages, rodent dusting, chicken coops, aquariums, animal transport systems all can be enhanced using Zeolite.
The structure of Zeolite is very porous. This allows it to attach easily to other things. It has amazing absorption properties.
Zeolite is known for its cleansing properties, also. It absorbs toxins like heavy metals and radioactive gases very easily.
You may see zeolite in most any type of work condition. Water treatment plants utilize its ability to absorb toxins. It is part of the cleansing process.
Aquaculture uses zeolite to keep the levels of ammonia safe in ponds and tanks. Zeolite is often used for any type of radioactive cleanup. The farming industry utilizes zeolite. It makes fertilizers far more effective, by increasing mineral absorption.
At Absorbtion Solutions, we have had great success cleaning concrete with Zeolite. It absorbs most stains and oil deposits with fantastic results. We were very sucessfull until summertime, when we found out that the Zeolite suddenly started dumping everything that it had absorbed. Heat causes Zeolite to release what it adsorbs, and when we tried to clean concrete during the daytime hours, it would work well until it got hot, and then it would dump everything that it had picked up all at once, causing an area of clean concrete in several areas, and a mess in others. We had to modify our concrete cleaning business so that we could clean at times when the heat would not effect us.
Our Pool Filtration Service is off to a fantastic start. Zeolite is the perfect replacement for sand in swimming pool filters. We were able to clear a majority of pools, with only a couple of problem pools where the Zeolite seemed to not work at all. After further research and investigation, we found that alkilinity affected the performance of Zeolite and a pool that was filtered with Zeolite that contained water that was high in alkilinity would absorb more chlorine and chemicals than a pool with low alkilinity. So on pools filtered with Zeolite, we are finding that if you lower the alkilinity to 60 to 80 ppm and maintain a Ph of 7.2, the water will stay clear. Alkali will absorb chlorine, and the water in the West Texas area is high in alkali. Muratic Acid is the most economical solution.
TESTIMONIES OF THOSE WHO USED ZEOLITE POWDER
I decided to enter the powerwashing business to clean up driveways. I was having conciderable success, but I was concerned about the harsh chemicals that I was having to use to get the oil up and the concrete clean. The amount of water that was running off was bad and I was concerned about not only the groundwater issue, but also disrupting my customer's business flow. I decided that there had to be a way to get the concrete clean, the oil up, and keep the enviroment intact.
I began researching the internet, and found Zeolite, a mineral that everyone was claiming would do remarkable things. Being a pessimist, I was very reluctant, but I decided to order some to see if it would do what they claimed.
I personally tested almost every claim that was made, and found out that most of it was true. Zeolite is an amazing, inexpensive mineral with remarkable absorbtion power.
I now use Zeolite products, as well as distribute them. I have a much healthier enviroment at home, as Zeolite is absorbing most of the chemicals that I used to have to breathe. My pets are healthier, my plants grow better, and I have less sinus related illness. Zeolite has also helped our business to grow as we are able to offer our customers a product and service that is free of chemical and groundwater contamination.
Give me a call today, and let me show you what Zeolite products can do for you. I will be happy to show you what Zeolite can do. Don't take my word for it. See for yourself.

Refrigerator and Freezer
To control odors and moisture in refrigerators and freezers, place 1 to 2 cups of Zeolite in a breathable bag. Place into refrigerator where air can circulate around it. The zeolite will pull the moisture out of the refrigerator and freezer. It will also adsorb odors and prevent cross-contamination. Zeolite has the ability to adsorb ethylene gasses to help keep fruits and vegetables fresher longer. Prevents buildup of ice. Saves up to 15% on electricity. Regenerate or recycle after use.
Absorb Spills
Line the bottom of the refrigerator with a layer of zeolite to absorb spills from packaged meats. It will also help to eliminate odors from fish or other odorous foods. Simply wipe clean when replacing. Replace every three months or as needed.
Cheese & Butter Bins
Cheese and Butter Bins. Place a small amount of zeolite in the Cheese and butter bins in the refrigerator to keep out the moisture and odors from entering into the foods. Will help to reduce spoilage. Replace after 3 months.
Fruit & Vegetable Bins
Place your fresh fruits and vegetables in a gallon re-sealable plastic bags along with 1-1/2 cup of Zeolite. (Smaller amounts may be used in smaller bags. Place bag in normal storage areas. The zeolite will absorb the ethylene gas that is produced by the ripening process, keeping your fruits and vegetables fresh and crisp. When preparing for use, simply remove the items from the bag and rinse off the zeolite. Zeolite is harmless, and is approved by the EPA for use in and around food. If you happen to eat a little, it will not hurt. We don’t usually recommend eating zeolite, as it can be a littlel gritty. This method works well on grapefruits, grapes, lemons, limes, oranges, and tomatoes. Also works well on apples, asparagus, avacados, bananas, cantelope, carrots, cauliflower, cucumbers, egg plants, green beans, figs, honeydew melons, leafy greens, lettuce,
mangos, okra, peas, peaches, pears, peppers, plums, prunes, squash, and many others. For best results start with a fresh bag each time. If you are planning for long term storage, replace zeolite
after 12 weeks. Keep only one type of produce in each bag. Do not store tomatoes or potatoes in the refrigerator. Do not store potatoes and onions together.
Cabinets & Pantry
Place 1/2 to 1 cup of zeolite in to an open container or breathable bag to reduce moisture and absorb odors. Zeolite will help to control the rusting of cans and metal objects. Replace every 3 months.
Silverware Storage
Place 1/2 to 1 cup of zeolite in to an open container or breathable bag to reduce moisture and absorb odors. Zeolite will help to control the rusting of cans and metal objects. Replace every 3 months.
Cookstoves & Ovens
Pour a layer of zeolite below the burners and drip pans to capture the grease and other liquids that spill over. The zeolite will trap the grease making cleanup easy. It will also help to keep the odors from being emitted from the over cooking of food.
Trash Recepticles
Sprinkle zeolite in the bottom of the container. After lining the container with a fresh trash bag,
sprinkle a generous amount inside the trash bag. The zeolite will absorb the trashy smell and keep
the container fresh
Under the Sink
Place about 2 pounds of zeolite in a breathable bag and place under the sink to pull the odors and moisture out from under the sink. If you store chemicals in the area, keep a container handy to contain any spills you might have from leaky pipes, or chemical spills.
Odor Control
If you have access to zeolite powder, you make an in-expensive alternative to Free breeze. Simply combine the zeolite powder and water, shake well, and place in a spray bottle. This method works
well to absorb odors quickly and easily. The powder also works well as an additive to bath water, and to absorb odors in garbage disposals, drains, and other hard to reach places.
Cookstoves & Ovens
Use zeolite to absorb messy spills made on kitchen floors and countertops. Cleanup is easy to do and the zeolite will absorb odors associated with the spill.
Other Containers
Sprinkle zeolite in the bottom of the container. After lining the container with a fresh trash bag, sprinkle a generous amount inside the trash bag. The zeolite will absorb the trashy smell and keep the container fresh.
IN THE BATHROOM
Under the Sink
Place about 2 pounds of zeolite in a breathable bag and place under the sink to pull the odors and moisture out from under the sink. If you store chemicals in the area, keep a container handy to contain any spills you might have from leaky pipes, or chemical spills.
Behind the Toilet
Place 2 pounds of Zeolite into a breathable bag and place behind the toilet. Be sure to place in an area where air can flow through the bags. Regenerate the bag once a month.
Around the Tub & Shower
Take 3 or 4 old tube socks and fill with zeolite. You can decorate them to match your decor. Place the tubes next to the tub at the bottom. The zeolite will absorb the moisture that is spilled from the tub and prevent mildew from forming on the carpets. Construct a bath mat with Zeolite. Take two pieces of material. Sew a plastic liner in the bottom of one. Sew together placing Zeolite in between the layers. When someone is exiting, the Zeolite will absorb the moisture and keep the floor dry.
IN THE BEDROOM
In the Closets
Closets can become musty smelling. To prevent this from happening, place 2 pounds of zeolite in a breathable bag and place on the top shelf of the closet
Matresses
To absorb accidents due to small children wetting or spills on mattresses, remove linen, pour a generous amount of zeolite on the spill. Let the zeolite stand for 12 hours and vacuum up. The zeolite will pull the moisture and the stain from the mattress.
Air Conditioning Vents
Place 2 pounds of zeolite in a breathable bag and place in air conditioning vents to pull odors out of the room. The zeolite will act as an air filter and remove impurities before it reaches the room.
Carpets
Sprinkle a generous amount of zeolite on the carpets to absorb odors. Let stand for 12 hours and vacuum up. Zeolite is excellent for absorbing odors associated with smoke.
OTHER LIVING AREAS
Cat Litter Boxes
Zeolite makes an excellent cat litter. Most cat litters contain clay, with a deodorant added to cover up the smell. Zeolite, unlike clay, actually absorbs the ammonia that creates the odors that are emitted from cat boxes. Simply use zeolite the same way as you use cat litter. Zeolite is safe to use outside in flowerbeds and gardens after it has been used as cat litter. Simply blend into the soil.
Pet Areas
Apply zeolite to pet sleeping areas to control odors and moisture in these areas. Use in hamster cages, water containers, bird cages or any where animals are associated in the house.
Air Conditioning Vents
Place 2 - 4 pounds of Zeolite in a breathabel bag and place in Heater or Air Conditioner return vents. If you have a filter that is laying down, simply sprinkle zeolite directly onto the filter. The zeolite will act as an air purifier and remove contaminates from the air. If there is moisture from condensation under the filter, place a generous supply of zeolite around the area. Regenerate the zeolite every time you clean or replace the filter.
Hot Tubs & Spas
Cartridge filters are normally used in hot tubs and spas. The filter fairly well, but maintenance is required and cartridges have to be replaced. To prolong the life of the cartridge, zeolite can be poured or placed around the outside of the cartridge. Be sure to place screening to prevent the zeolite from getting into the tub. The zeolite will soften the water, cut down on the maintenance and replacement of cartridges and less chemicals will be needed to maintain the spa.
Basements
Zeolite can be used in several ways in the basement. If moisture is a problem, along the baseboards, form long tubes of zeolite from panty hose or tube socks, and line the baseboards with the tubes. Keep an ample supply of zeolite on the carpet if moisture is a problem there. In drastic events, zeolite can be blown into the walls between the concrete and wallboard to help eleviate the moisture. Pour a generous amount of zeolite outside where water and moisture might
be entering the basement. The zeolite will help to keep the basement area dry and will help to eliminate the musty odors associated with basements.
ON THE PATIO
In the BBQ Grill
Place a generous amount of Zeolite under the burners of your BBQ grill to capture the excess grease and oil that drips from meat that you are cooking. The Zeolite will absorb the grease as it drips down helping to prevent flare ups.
In Flower Pots & Baskets
Mix Zeolite in the soil of your flower baskets and planters at the rate of 15% of Zeolite. Blend into soil down to the root structure. The Zeolite will keep the soil loose, and act as a slow release water and nutrient. Did you know that NASA is presently growing plants in a Zeolite solution on the International Space Station? It is a new process known as “Zeoponics”.
Odor & Moisture Control
Sprinkle Zeolite onto areas that produce odors in and around the patio area such as, Gutter Drains, Pet Areas, Behind Furniture, or anywhere where odors occur . Pour Zeolite into low areas that normaly collect water and moisture. This will keep the mosquitoes
from hatching.
Moisture & Odor Control
Sprinkle Zeolite onto areas that produce odors in and around the patio area such as, Gutter Drains, Pet Areas, Behind Furniture, or anywhere where odors occur. Leave you cushions out while it was raining? Dry them out with Zeolite. Sprinkle Zeolite over cushions and let them set overnight or until the Zeolite is completely dry. The Zeolite will draw all of the moisture out of the cushions.
Concrete & Decks
Zeolite can be applied to spills on the floors and concrete. Leave up to 24 hours for maximum effect. Zeolite will pull most wet stains right out of the croncrete.
Insect Control
While it is not our policy to use chemicals, Certain chemicals can be asorbed in Zeolite and selectively placed in areas where insects congregate. The Zeolite will hold the chemicals and slowly release them. This method is good as no leaching will occur, and you only have to use a small amount. Orange Oil is a great organic insecticide and is easily asorbed by Zeolite.
Remember to keep it out of sunlight as heat will cause the Zeolite to release the chemicals quickly
LAWN & GARDEN
Planting Trees
When you are planting a new tree or bush, be generous with Zeolite. A newly transplanted tree or bush planted with 25% of Zeolite mixed in with the soil will grow nearly twice as fast. If a tree is wrapped in burlap, place at least one inch of Zeolite around the outside of the burlap. The Zeolite absorbs water and acts as an aerator and fertilizer.
Planting Lawns
If you are planting a new lawn, mix 10% Zeolite in your soil before you plant seed, or spread a thin layer on top of the soil if you are laying sod. Zeolite is an areator, fertilizer, water absorber, and soil
de-toxifier all in one. You will be amazed at how long the grass will stay greener longer throughout the season. The money you spend on Zeolite will come back to you in water savings.
Planting Flowers & Vegetables
The water absorbing abilities of Zeolite is amazing. Zeolite has a high affinity for water and will absorb it almost instantly. Zeolite absorbs almost 70% of it’s weight in water and will keep the soil moist without being messy. Blend 25% Zeolite in with your potting soil. For existing beds, sprinkle 1/2 inch of Zeolite and blend in with rake or spade.
ANIMAL AREAS
Dog Houses
Would you spend the night in the dog house. A dog can smell very sensitive odors, so give him a break. Sprinkle 1/2” of Zeolite in the floor of the dog house to absorb odors and moisture. Your dog will love you for it.
Animal Hygene
You can either use a powder form of Zeolite or take a breathable bag of zeolite and dust off those animals. The Zeolite will absorb the odors and leave your animals fresh and clean.
Dog Runs
Sprinkle Zeolite over urine areas and other places where dogs do their business. Zeolite will absorb the urine and ammonia and keep the smell and flies away.
Water Tanks
Spread a layer of Zeolite in the bottom of the water tank to absorb the ammonia in the water. Algae needs ammonia to grow and will not grow in the water tanks if there is no ammonia present.
Bedding Areas
Apply 1/2” of Zeolite to the animal’s bedding areas to keep the area odor free and dry.
Stalls, Stock Trailers
Apply 1/2-1” of Zeolite to the floor area. The Zeolite will absorb the ammonia, odors and moisture, keeping the floor area dry and clean. When replacing the Zeolite, blend it into your compost or garden areas. You will have instant fertilizer.
Chicken Coops
Zeolite is used by many poultry proccessors. You can spread a generous amount on the floor. The Zeolite will absorb the ammonia and odors leaving your chickens with a healthy enviroment. The chickens will also use the Zeolite as grit. As they absorb the Zeolite, it will help to absorb any toxins. When it passes through the digestive system, it will absorb the ammonia in the manure.
This manure and Zeolite mixture is one of the highest quality forms of fertilizer. It can be mixed
with more zeolite and applied to gardens, flowers or any other area that fertilizer is needed.
Animal & Bird Cages
Sprinkle Zeolite in the bottom of the cage to absorb the odors and moisture that collects. 1/2” will also help you to keep the cage clean easy.
AUTO’S, RV AND VANS
Fluid & Spill Containment
Zeolite is an excellent oil absorber and can be used in several ways to keep oil from getting on the driveway. If you are changing oil, fill the catch pan with zeolite to absorb the oil and keep it from spilling. You also can make a mat or a catch pan from old baking sheets to capture leaks in garages. Simply take an old cookie pan and sprinkle Zeolite into the pan and place in the area where the leak occurs.
In the RV
Zeolite has several uses in RVs. Place breathable bags in the refirgerator, heater vents, cabinets, behind toilets, and other areas to control moisture and odors. Sprinkle Zeolite inside Septic Hoses
and other areas where odors occur. Construct a small Zeolite Filter to filter water at campgrounds before usage. Sprinkle carpets with Zeolite when the camper is not used to keep the musty odors out.
In the Vents
Place a breathable bag of Zeolite into the intake air vent to pull odors and moisture from the air conditioning system. The Zeolite will keep the air dry and odor free and will require less power for refrigeration.
