USB 2.0 or 3.0 port
For the USB 3.0 interface: SuperSpeed USB 3.0 port (required for USB 3.0 transfer speeds or backwards compatible with USB 2.0 ports at USB 2.0 transfer speeds).
Compatibility may vary depending on user's hardware configuration and operating system

NOTE: THIS MODEL SUPPORTS USB2.0 (USB2.0 ADAPTER ALREADY INCLUDED WHEN YOU PURCHASE THIS) BUT YOU CAN EASILY UPGRADE TO USB3 OR FIREWIRE BY PURCHASING ITS RELATED ADAPTER (SOLD SEPARATELY) AT ANY LOCAL RETAILERS. YOU MAY ALSO INSTEAD OPT TO BUY A USB3 VERSION OF A DIFFERENT SIZE (1TB OR 2TB) AND SIMPLY SWAP DRIVES TO ENJOY USB3.0 FUNCTIONALITY. 

EXAMPLE: I PERSONALLY HAVE A 2TB USB3 UNIT AND EVERYTIME I WANT TO TRANSFER FILES TO MY USB2 DRIVE, I WILL SIMPLY DETACH THE DRIVE FROM ITS USB2 BASE (DOCKING STATION) AND INSERT TO THE USB3 DOCKING STATION AND I AM ABLE TO ENJOY FAST TRANSFER SPEEDS.
