It furnishes the body with much needed progesterone. It balances the excess of estrogen which most women have an excess of through cells fat, soy products, and xenoestrogens ("by-products of environmental compounds, usually petrochemicals that generally have very potent estrogen-like activity")*. What does it do for you?: it helps keep your bones strong; it has cardiovascular benefits and helps protect against breat cancer, etc. It is not to be mistaken with Progestins that are a chemical compound with side effects. Progesterone is entirely natural and 100% beneficial. The Now cream contains the proper dosage of progesterone in a cream compound that facilites its absoption through the skin. You would not want to take progesterone orally because most of it would be interfered with by the liver. It means that you would have to take in a huge amount to get a therapeutic effect. It is not artificial by any means; it is an herb you can find in the produce section. However, it dissipates fairly quickly and is fairly light after about ten to fifteen minutes. Second, this cream is great! I previously was using pro-gest but found the measuring difficult and worried that I was not getting exact amounts. I love the easy self-measuring dosing of the creams. I also appreciate the balancing herb formula found in this cream, as many of these herbs are recommended for women with PCOS. Once again NOW has brought a superior product to the people at a reasonable price!

From Michigan I've been using this for a year or two now, both the lavender and regular scented one. This brand was recommended by my doctor to use along with the estrogen patches I've been on since having a complete hysterectomy at age 41, about 9 years ago (for severe endometriosis). It's great, in that it levels my moods and has virtually eliminated hot flashes that I was starting to get. I also read that you can safely use a small dab vaginally for problems with dryness -- which works for me! I won't be without this cream and always make sure I have an extra on hand!

From Michigan I am in my 20's and I was suggested progesterone cream for my cramps and for my PMS, since I get very emotional before and during my period that it was almost unbearable at times. I don't like taking drugs so I tried using this product. It works wonderfully! I feel great during PMS and my cramps are not as bad. Sometimes they still get pretty bad and I have to take a drug, but at least the PMS is lessened. I don't like using a week or two each month where I am just moody and over emotional. So I suggest this cream to any woman who is even a bit younger who has not hit menopause, but has heavy cramps and for those who tend to have a difficult time during PMS. It's way worth it, and it's way better for you than taking a drug for PMS! So it's worth a try! If you are getting it for these reasons, I use it 15 days after the start of my period and then stop when my next period starts. You may not notice a difference until after the first couple months of using it. But be patient, because it will work! :)
