Insect Killers for pest control of mosquito: Uv-a lamps, mosquito traps, bug zappers
THE OPERATING MECHANISM OF ELECTRIC INSECT KILLERS AND MOSQUITO TRAPS IMITATES EXACTLY WHAT HAPPENS IN NATURE
The mosquito deposits its eggs in a dark, humid place where it can shelter and mature safe from danger of dehydration.
When the baby insect is born, it can only leave this environment in the absence of solar rays, since these would dehydrate and kill it.
Nature has therefore programmed it only to emerge at night, when the only rays to guide it are ultraviolet.
Experiments have shown that during the first hour of their lives, a very high percentage of newly born mosquitoes fall into mosquito traps (bug zappers) because of the attraction of ultraviolet, and after the first two hours nearly all of the insects ended up being caught.
This attraction reduces as the insect matures, until it is completely gone when the female needs to lay her eggs: during this period, she is attracted mainly by the smell and heat of human and animal bodies. When the female is finally ready to lay, instinct guides her to seek out narrow, humid and cool places, where she knows the eggs are protected from predators and from the sun s rays, and can be kept In the best conditions for hatching.
Thus it is evident that an effective campaign of pest control can only be mounted at the beginning of spring, to get rid of the insects as soon as they are born.
By switching on ultraviolet mosquito traps around the protected location of the eggs every night and switching them off in the morning, the population of young mosquitoes is destroyed so they are unable to breed.
The result of an effective clearance operation is that in high summer, the population of adult females thirsty for blood will be nonexistent or at least limited to ones coming from far away which have not been disinfested.
